Uruguayan Guillermo Almada, who led Pachuca to the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup and 2022 Apertura titles, was confirmed on Sunday as the new coach of Mexican soccer’s Aguilas del America.
“Greatness is built every day, today begins a new stage. Welcome to Club América, Guillermo Almada,” wrote the Azulcrema’s board of directors on their social networks.
America’s new era begins with Almada

Guillermo Almada, 56, will replace Brazilian André Jardine, who won three league titles with Club América.
This is a challenge for the strategist, who arrives from Real Oviedo in Spanish soccer.
“For América, the arrival of a strategist of proven ability and recognition, such as Guillermo Almada, represents a reason for joy”.
“We are convinced that under his technical direction, the new stage of the Eagles will be up to the high level of demand of the club,” the team commented.
América is the winningest team in Mexico with seven Concacaf Cup triumphs and 16 Liga Mx championships, which the South American tactician will try to ratify.
Arrives with a mission to bring back the glory

In Mexico, Guillermo Almada coached Santos Laguna, with which he reached the final of the Guardianes 2021 tournament.
And Pachuca, teams in which he encouraged the development of young talents.
In the last Clausura 2026, América was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Pumas UNAM.
In a series that the Azulcremas let go with a Henry Martin penalty kick penalty miss.
