Mexican actor Alfonso Herrera will head the Spanish-language dubbing for Latin America of ‘El gato con sombrero’, the new Warner Bros. Pictures Animation production that will have its premiere in Mexico on November 5, according to a statement shared by the Mexican actor’s representation team.
In this new animated adaptation, the character created by the American cartoonist Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, will help the siblings, Gabby and Sebastian, to adapt to a new city, which will be one of the most important missions of the protagonist within the Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration.
“Some characters you play, but others take you out to play. El gato con sombrero’ is one of those that unleashes the imagination. I am delighted to collaborate with Warner Bros. Mexico to bring to new generations a character that reminds us of the joy of childhood,” said Herrera about this figure that originated in the 1950s and became popular on the big screen with the adaptation starring Mike Myers in 2003.

According to the press release, the production, directed by Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja, will also be the first full-length animated film produced by Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, which also announced on its social networks that Spanish actor Fernando Guallar will dub Waffles, the aquatic character of this universe.
Over the past two decades, Herrera (Mexico City, 1983) has been featured in key dubbing roles in film, television and streaming platforms.
He did so when he was the voice of Ted Wiggins in ‘The Lorax: In Search of the Lost Truffle (2012)’; the grey heron in ‘The Boy and the Heron’ (2023), the most recent animated film by the legendary Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki, and Fox McCloud in ‘Super Mario Galaxy’ (2026).
In its English version, ‘The Cat in the Hat’ will be voiced by U.S. comedian Bill Hader and Xochitl Gomez, of Mexican descent and known for her participation in the Marvel universe, will play Gabby, reported Agencia EFE.
