The Brazilian club Fortaleza used its social networks to confirm that all its players, coaching staff and personnel were safe.

They also announced that they were working with their fans to ensure their safety during the evacuation of the stadium.

Colo-Colo issued a statement expressing its regret:

“We deeply regret the passing of two of our fans in the lead-up to the match against Fortaleza. We send our sincere condolences to the families, friends and close ones.”

As a sign of mourning, the Chilean club canceled all official events, including the traditional “Arengazo” scheduled for April 11.

This incident revives concerns about security in South American stadiums, especially in international tournaments.

CONMEBOL has initiated a review of access and capacity protocols to prevent similar events from occurring again in the remainder of the Copa Libertadores 2025.
