Colombian singer Shakira officially announced the cancellation of her long-awaited concert in Washington D.C., which was to be held this Saturday, May 31, as part of her “Women Don’t Cry Anymore” tour.
The decision comes after a series of logistical complications that also forced the cancellation of their previous two dates in Boston, Massachusetts.
Shakira cancels Washington concert
According to a statement issued on the official website of the Nationals Park stadium -where the concert was to be held in Washington-, the production of the show could not be transferred in time from Boston due to technical delays originated in that city.
The organizers noted that it was impossible to complete the required set-up, which forced the cancellation of the event.
The artist herself expressed her sadness on social networks:
“Due to circumstances beyond my control, I am saddened and pained that I will not be able to be with you in Washington, D.C. tomorrow. I hope to be able to return as soon as possible. In the meantime, please know that I am eternally grateful for your unconditional support,” Shakira wrote in a statement released on Friday, May 30.

Tickets purchased through Ticketmaster or the Nationals’ official website will be automatically refunded.
In the case of buyers who used resellers or other third party platforms, it is recommended to contact them directly to manage returns or credits.

The cancellation takes on special significance, as this show was planned as the inaugural event for LGTBI World Pride 2025, which this year is being held in Washington, D.C.
