Miami dressed up to pay tribute to one of its most beloved artists: Gloria Estefan. In celebration of her five decades of musical career, the iconic skyscraper Paramount Miami Worldcenter was illuminated with her image and references to her most recent album, “Raíces”.
The tribute not only enhances her career, but also positions her once again as a symbol of pride for the Hispanic community in the United States.
An unprecedented light show
From Thursday, May 29 through May 31, every night the Miami skyline will be transformed.
Gloria Estefan’s image and a colorful mosaic inspired by the art of Andy Warhol will cover the 91-meter LED screen surrounding the 60-story Paramount Miami Worldcenter.
The 213-meter-tall building will project for five minutes, at the beginning and end of each hour between 8:00 p.m. and midnight, a choreographed light show that revives the vibrant spirit of the 1970s and 1980s, when Estefan took off to stardom with the Miami Sound Machine.
“Raíces”: your return to the top
The tribute coincides with the release of his new album, “Raíces”, a production that is already dominating Billboard’s Latin Pop, Latin Airplay and Tropical Airplay charts in North and South America.
The title track of the Hispanic album has deeply connected with Latin audiences, thanks to its mix of traditional rhythms and message of identity.
Cutting-edge technology to celebrate a legend
Behind the visual spectacle is an impressive infrastructure: 13,400 LED lights connected by more than eight kilometers of wiring, integrated into 10,000 window frames.
The installation, which took three years to design and cost three million dollars, allows more than 16 million color combinations to be projected.
And despite its scale, nighttime energy consumption is just $34 per night, confirmed Daniel Kodsi, the skyscraper’s developer.
