Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office (FGR) informed on Wednesday that the legal proceeding against Mexican<\/a> singer Christian Nodal “is still open”, so it is necessary to wait for the result that will indicate whether or not the criminal action proceeds.<\/p>\n

The FGR issued a statement today to clarify the status of the legal process against singer Christian Nodal and his family, derived from a complaint filed by a record company.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Nodal attended the Centro de Justicia Penal Federal del Reclusorio (jail) Oriente in Mexico City for a hearing requested by the FGR to charge him for allegedly using false documents to try to appropriate the rights to his songs recorded at Universal Music.<\/p>\n

“The complaint filed with the FGR by a record company, consists of the accusation that Christian ‘N’, and his family assigned copyrights on certain works, and, after that, they ostented themselves as owners of what they were no longer,” explained the Mexican Prosecutor’s Office in the note.<\/p>\n

He added that the file that was brought before the judge refers to the above, and that the judge “did not exonerate Christian ‘N’, nor his family; she simply determined that there is another trial, of a civil nature, and that it is necessary to wait for the result of the same, in order to proceed, or not, with the criminal action”.<\/p>\n

In view of the above, the FGR explained, “the proceeding is still open, awaiting the result. And both Christian ‘N’, as well as the complainants, can provide the FGR with any evidence they may have in this regard”.<\/p>\n

Likewise, it was pointed out that “the arguments of the Attorney General’s Office regarding the judge’s decision will be established in the corresponding appeal”.<\/p>\n

According to the case, Nodal and his parents, Silvia Cristina Nodal Jim\u00e9nez and Jes\u00fas Jaime Gonz\u00e1lez Terrazas, allegedly used 32 false contracts to file a lawsuit against the record label Universal Music to claim the rights to songs from three albums, reported Agencia EFE.<\/p>\n
