The news was confirmed by People<\/span><\/span>which released an official statement from his family. In the message they said: “It is with great sadness that we inform you that Eric Dane passed away on Thursday afternoon. He spent his last days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his life”. The statement noted the intimate and loving environment that accompanied him in his final moments.<\/p>\n

Eric Dane: A Quiet Fight Against ALS<\/h2>\n

The actor, who fans nicknamed “McSteamy” for his role in Grey’s Anatomy<\/em>, had been facing since 2024 a diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects motor neurons and gradually impairs mobility. The condition forced him to significantly reduce his public and professional presence in recent years.<\/p>\n

Far from giving up on the diagnosis, Dane decided to get actively involved in the search for solutions. His latest post on Instagram was a collaborative announcement confirming his joining the board of directors at Target ALS<\/span><\/span>an entity dedicated to advancing research and removing obstacles in the development of effective ALS treatments.<\/p>\n

In that message, the actor shared deeply personal words: “This disease takes something from me every day. But I won’t let it take away my courage.” He added that his decision to join the organization was in response to his desire to actively contribute to changing what it means to be diagnosed with ALS and to give hope to other patients.<\/p>\n

From Grey’s Anatomy to his latest big-screen project<\/h2>\n

In the professional field, one of his last appearances was in the movie Americana<\/span><\/span>directed by Tony Tost and starring Sydney Sweeney<\/span><\/span>, Halsey<\/span><\/span> y Paul Walter Hauser<\/span><\/span>. The film, released on August 22, 2025, featured Dane in the role of Dillon Macintosh.
