But how did a young man from a humble town in Michoacan become the most wanted man by the US government? El Financiero (@ElFinanciero_Mx)  <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ElFinanciero_Mx\/status\/2026122410567868768?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 24, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nUpon his return to Mexico, El Mencho tried to lead a &#8220;straight&#8221; life and joined the ranks of the municipal police in Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco.<\/p>\n<p>But the call of easy money was stronger.<\/p>\n<p>He soon joined the Milenio Cartel, where he not only climbed the ranks due to his cold blood, but also sealed his fate by marrying Rosalinda Gonzalez Valencia, a member of &#8220;Los Cuinis,&#8221; the financial arm that would provide economic support to his future organization.<\/p>\n<h2>The birth of the monster: &#8220;Los Mata Zetas&#8221;.<\/h2>\n<p>Following the capture of his bosses and the fragmentation of the major cartels, Oseguera Cervantes saw his opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>Under the name &#8220;Los Mata Zetas,&#8221; his group began to gain ground in Jalisco.<\/p>\n<p>What began as an armed wing for the <a href=\"https:\/\/queonnda.com\/en\/us-executes-largest-fentanyl-seizure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sinaloa Cartel<\/a> soon became independent to form the Jalisco Cartel &#8211; New Generation (CJNG).<\/p>\n<p>Their strategy was clear: extreme violence and propaganda.<\/p>\n<p>El Mencho was the first to use social networks to show off his military might, with armored convoys and weaponry that looked like something out of a formal war.<\/p>\n<h2>The DEA&#8217;s number one enemy<\/h2>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"es\">First, who was El Mencho?<br \/>\nBorn in 1966 in Aguililla (Michoac\u00e1n), former rural policeman from Jalisco, US record for heroin (deported).<br \/>\n2007-2010: leads Los Mata Zetas (arm of Sinaloa against Zetas).<br \/>\n2010: fracture of C\u00e1rtel del Milenio \u2192 CJNG is born as Los&#8230;
