They are living beings with the right to fly,&#8221; says Castillo in the video of the internationally launched campaign.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the actress encouraged the public to save the lives of wild birds. &#8220;It is an extreme cruelty that we can eliminate, simply by stopping buying them,&#8221; the artist stressed. <\/p>\n<p>Statistics show that 7 out of 10 birds die in the wildlife trade. Those that survive suffer greatly in captivity, where they are often kept in total isolation, with no meaningful mental stimulation or opportunity to fly, according to data shared by Peta. <\/p>\n<p>The campaign includes a video and posters in which the Mexican actress speaks with her direct and unabashed style.<\/p>\n<h2>Kate del Castillo in PETA Latino campaign wants to raise awareness<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_152673\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-152673\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-152673 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/queonnda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/8b785068-d9aa-46f5-8585-2636ca3f71ee.jpg\" alt=\"Kate del Castillo PETA Latino campaign\" width=\"1200\" height=\"2182\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-152673\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">PHOTO: Instagram<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In the video Castillo pointed directly to the market in Sonora (Mexico) where wild birds are allegedly being sold. He also denounced that 80% of the birds captured die when they are transported. <\/p>\n<p>North America has an enormous biological diversity of birds. It is estimated that 20 percent of the world&#8217;s avifauna inhabits this region. And Mexico ranks first of the three countries with 1107 species, and is the twelfth worldwide, according to data from Mexico&#8217;s Federal Attorney&#8217;s Office for Environmental Protection (PROFEPA).  <\/p>\n<p>Mexico is also the country where more than half of North America&#8217;s migratory birds spend between 6 and 8 months of the year.<\/p>\n<p>In the United States, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act has protected more than 1,000 species of native migratory birds, their nests and eggs since 1918.
