{"id":165855,"date":"2026-04-24T17:05:04","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T21:05:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/queonnda.com\/u-s-alert-possible-revocation-of-citizenship-of-more-than-350-people-sparks-national-concern\/"},"modified":"2026-04-24T17:12:58","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T21:12:58","slug":"u-s-alert-possible-revocation-of-citizenship-of-more-than-350-people-sparks-national-concern","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/queonnda.com\/en\/u-s-alert-possible-revocation-of-citizenship-of-more-than-350-people-sparks-national-concern\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. alert: possible revocation of citizenship of more than 350 people sparks national concern"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The U.S. Department of Justice began the process to revoke the citizenship of more than 350 people across the country, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New York Times<\/a> revealed Friday.<\/p>\n<p>As revealed to the newspaper by Donald Trump administration officials, the U.S. Justice will soon file civil lawsuits to denaturalize these individuals and hopes to expand and accelerate these processes nationwide.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>How can the U.S. take away citizenship?<\/h2>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"es\">\ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 The Department of Justice plans to revoke the citizenship of hundreds of foreign-born Americans.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/UPkfEvQdlC\">https:\/\/t.co\/UPkfEvQdlC<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Telemundo News (@TelemundoNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TelemundoNews\/status\/2047777590170063118?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 24, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>In order for the U.S. Government to apply to revoke someone&#8217;s citizenship, it must prove in court that the individual obtained it fraudulently or illegally.<\/p>\n<p>For example, concealing a criminal record of crimes that would make him unfit for citizenship, or having entered into a sham marriage.<\/p>\n<p>This process, however, can only be applied to &#8220;naturalized citizens&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>As they are known to people who were not born in the U.S. but obtained U.S. citizenship after immigrating to the country.<\/p>\n<p>A Justice Department spokesperson told the New Yorker that the Trump administration is seeking to achieve &#8220;the highest volume&#8221; of citizenship revocations &#8220;in history.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In July of last year, the department issued a memorandum instructing its Civil Affairs Division to focus on citizenship revocation cases.<\/p>\n<h2>Who is targeted by the repeal<\/h2>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"es\">Nearly 400 people are facing proceedings to revoke their citizenship in the country for alleged immigration fraud, according to the Department of Justice.
