Australian actress<\/a> Rebel Wilson denied Tuesday in the Federal Court having defamed fellow actress Charlotte MacInnes, in the context of a lawsuit centered on a series of publications on social networks about an alleged case of harassment during the filming of her directorial debut, in the film ‘The Deb’.<\/p>\n

The performer, known for her roles in Hollywood comedies, defended during her first court appearance in Sydney that her comments were “true” and denied that they constituted harassment or defamation.<\/p>\n

The litigation centers on messages disseminated between 2024 and 2025 in which, according to the lawsuit, Wilson stated or implied that MacInnes had reported an episode of sexual harassment related to producer Amanda Ghost and later retracted it so as not to harm her professional career.<\/p>\n

The plaintiff denies having made this accusation at any time against Ghost and maintains that this version is false and severely damaged her reputation.<\/p>\n

According to the court filing, the origin of the dispute dates back to 2023, when Ghost suffered a skin reaction to cold water – cold urticaria – after swimming in the sea at Bondi in eastern Sydney.<\/p>\n

Ghost then returned with MacInnes to her dwelling, where they both attempted to warm up in a hot bath.<\/p>\n

Wilson claims that MacInnes later relayed to her that the situation made her uncomfortable, but the actress claims she only described it as “strange” or “unusual,” with no connotations of harassment.<\/p>\n

The lawsuit also includes accusations that Wilson had been behind content on the Internet to discredit Ghost, which the actress denied in court. In her statement, the well-known actress of the movie ‘Bridesmaids’ defined herself as a “women’s advocate”. <\/p>\n

MacInnes’ defense, reported Agencia EFE, claims that Wilson’s public statements seriously damaged her image and seeks damages for aggravated damages, as well as that the defendant be prohibited from repeating such statements.<\/p>\n
