British singer<\/a> Charli XCX announced Monday the release of ‘Music, Fashion, Film’, her seventh studio album, for July 24, with a cover featuring musician John Cale, designer Marc Jacobs and filmmaker Martin Scorsese.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old artist, whose real name is Charlotte Aitchison, made the announcement public on her social networks, with a photo of the cover and a message in which she commented that the album would have eleven songs and an exact length of “30 minutes and 5 seconds”.<\/p>\n

The cover, in black and white, shows the three men dressed in black situated in what looks like the kitchen of a house. Cale, musician of the rock band The Velvet Underground, is seated and leaning on a countertop; Scorsese, next to a table and an ashtray; and Jacobs, leaning against one of the cabinets. <\/p>\n

In just a few minutes after the announcement, Charli already received the first criticisms for the cover, which pointed out that only men appeared as referents of these artistic disciplines and no women. “I need a version with Patti Smith, Miuccia Prada and Sofia Coppola,” said a user on Instagram. <\/p>\n

‘Music, Fashion, Film’ takes its name from a verse of one of the songs from the already released album ‘SS26’: “We parade on a catwalk that goes straight to hell. Nothing’s gonna save us, not music, not fashion, not film.”<\/p>\n

It also corresponds to the various artistic facets of Charli, who has been campaign image for fashion brands such as H & M and in the last year has starred in several forays into film as an actress, including her own mockumentary ‘The Moment’ or the composition of the soundtrack for the film ‘Wuthering Heights’ (‘Wuthering Heights’) by Emmerald Fennell.<\/p>\n

The new album is now available for pre-sale on Charli XCX’s website, with special signed editions and vinyl, CD or cassette tape formats. In all of them, the singer includes a message in which she says: “I feel so lucky to feel inspired”. <\/p>\n

The announcement of ‘Music, Fashion, Film’ comes after the artist caused a sensation – and some chaos – this Saturday in London, where she launched a free double event for her fans: a songwriting colloquium and an after-party where Charli XCX DJ’d and previewed some unreleased tracks.<\/p>\n

“I sucked the cream off strawberries in the summer…maybe I banged your dad,” a never-before-heard verse rang out at the party, which she attended accompanied by her husband, fellow The 1975 singer George Daniel.<\/p>\n

At another point “I’ll buy some shoes, card denied” was heard, also coming from an unreleased song, as well as a medley of ‘Playboy Bunny’, another of the songs from this new era, which has only been released physically as the B-side of one of the singles.<\/p>\n

Charli XCX thus formally signs the farewell to the ‘Brat’ era (2024), almost exactly three years after its release, and opens a new chapter of sober and more analogical cut.<\/p>\n

With ‘Brat’, reported Agencia EFE, he managed to turn a record into a cultural and aesthetic trend dominated by apple green and won numerous awards, including the Grammy for Best Electronic Album and the Brit Award for Best Album of the Year in 2025.<\/p>\n
