Sergio Checo P\u00e9rez could return to Formula 1 in 2026, as after his departure from Red Bull Racing at the end of the 2024 season, the Mexican driver is in talks with Cadillac, the new team supported by General Motors, which will make its debut in the top category in 2026.<\/p>\n

The news was confirmed by specialized journalist Luis Manuel “Chacho” L\u00f3pez on Fox Sports<\/a>, where he stated: “Yes, there are conversations with Cadillac”. The new U.S. team values not only the experience of the Mexican driver, but also his impact in key markets such as Mexico, the U.S. and Latin America.<\/p>\n

While Checo Perez’s future is being clarified with his likely arrival at Cadillac, Red Bull has made an important decision for the remainder of the 2025 season.<\/p>\n

Liam Lawson has been removed as official driver and will be replaced by Yuki Tsunoda, according to reports from Telegraaf journalist Erik van Haren.<\/p>\n

Lawson had a disappointing performance in the first races of the year, failing to advance from Q1 in Australia and China.<\/p>\n

In Shanghai, he abandoned the race after a crash in wet conditions.<\/p>\n

In contrast, Tsunoda has had a solid start to the season, reaching Q3 and scoring points, as well as being backed by Honda, Red Bull’s engine supplier.<\/p>\n

The decision was reportedly made after a team meeting in Dubai.<\/p>\n

The official announcement is expected before the Japanese Grand Prix on April 6, where Tsunoda will race in front of his home fans.<\/p>\n

With this scenario, Checo Perez is positioned as one of the most coveted free agents in the paddock and signing with Cadillac would allow him to remain among the elite.<\/p>\n
