Mexican soccer continues to invest in world-class players. After the arrival of players such as Sergio Ramos and James Rodr\u00edguez in 2024, Liga MX<\/a> is now looking to strengthen its bench. The name of former Italian footballer Fabio Cannavaro, world champion in 2006 and Ballon d’Or winner that same year, has gained momentum in the last few hours as a possible coach for the Apertura 2025.<\/p>\n

According to specialized journalist Fabrizio Romano, at least two major Liga MX clubs have contacted Fabio Cannavaro directly to evaluate his availability. The talks are at an early stage, but with a positive response from the Italian, who is looking forward to managing in Mexico.<\/p>\n

His experience includes spells with clubs in China, Saudi Arabia, Italy and Croatia.<\/p>\n

His most notable stints were with Guangzhou Evergrande, where he won two league titles, and with Tianjin Quanjian, where he won promotion in 2016.<\/p>\n

His disciplined style of play and ability to lead multicultural teams make him an attractive profile for Mexican teams.<\/p>\n

With just a few weeks to go before the start of the Apertura 2025 tournament, several teams are still in search of a strategist.<\/p>\n

Among the most prominent are:<\/p>\n

Chivas de Guadalajara, after the departure of Gerardo Espinoza.<\/p>\n

Monterrey, after elimination in the semifinals.<\/p>\n

Atl\u00e9tico San Luis, after the end of Gustavo Leal’s contract.<\/p>\n

Pachuca, whose coach Guillermo Almada will leave his post this summer.<\/p>\n

Although the clubs interested in Fabio Cannavaro have not been officially revealed, sources close to the club suggest that Chivas and Pachuca are the main candidates.<\/p>\n

For Liga MX, attracting well-known figures not only strengthens the competitive level, but also the international projection of the tournament.<\/p>\n
