due to war, natural disaster or political instability &#8211; to live and work legally in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>In this case, Venezuelans benefited due to the humanitarian, political and economic crisis in Venezuela.<\/p>\n<p>The suspension of the program would also affect immigrants from Cuba, Haiti and Nicaragua, as the government seeks to eliminate other avenues for humanitarian parole.<\/p>\n<h2>Why was TPS suspended?<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_42425\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-42425\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-42425\" src=\"https:\/\/queonnda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/TPS-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-42425\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">PHOTO: Shutterstock<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usa.gov\/es\/agencias\/corte-suprema-de-estados-unidos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Supreme Court&#8217;<\/a> s decision is in response to an emergency appeal by the Trump administration.<\/p>\n<p>He argued that maintaining TPS interferes with his immigration and foreign relations powers.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p style=\"color: #fd9737;\">TPS is a program created by Congress in 1990<\/p><cite>Qu\u00e9Onnda.com<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n<p>The ruling puts on hold a decision by Federal Judge Edward Chen, who had ordered the status to be maintained on the grounds that removing it would cause massive human and economic harm.<\/p>\n<p>According to Chen, ending TPS could affect hundreds of thousands of families.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to causing economic losses in the millions and leaving many people with no legal alternative to remain in the country.<\/p>\n<h2>What can those affected do?<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_42427\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-42427\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-42427\" src=\"https:\/\/queonnda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/TPS-4.jpg\" alt=\"TPS\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-42427\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">PHOTO: Shutterstock<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p>Despite the ruling, the suspension of TPS does not amount to an immediate deportation order.<\/p>\n<p>According to government attorney John Sauer, many immigrants may have other legal options for remaining in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Such as applying for asylum, changing immigration status or appealing to immigration courts.<\/p>\n<p>The only known dissent in the Supreme Court was that of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, who spoke against accepting the government&#8217;s emergency appeal.<\/p>\n<p>This decision generates great uncertainty for Venezuelans living in cities such as Miami, New York, Houston and Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>Most of this population is concentrated here.<\/p>\n<p>The Hispanic community now faces the challenge of becoming informed, seeking legal assistance and preparing for possible immigration proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>Pro-immigrant organizations have called for calm and recommend consulting with immigration lawyers for personalized legal options.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/queonnda.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Qu\u00e9Onnda.com.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court approved President Donald Trump&#8217;s administration to withdraw Temporary Protected Status (TPS) from more than 350,000 Venezuelans, leaving them at risk of immediate deportation.
