This Wednesday, June 25, 2025, a category EF1 tornado touched down in Largo, Florida, causing significant damage to the Bay Ranch and Ranchero Village mobile home communities located in the 7000 block of Ulmerton Road. The National Weather Service(NWS<\/a>) confirmed the tornado after analyzing radar images and video captured by residents.<\/p>\n

The tornado, which formed around 7:15 p.m., ripped off roofs, overturned mobile homes and scattered debris throughout this area of Florida. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Emergency crews and utility crews worked through the night to secure the area and restore essential services.<\/p>\n

According to the Largo Fire Department, 10 to 15 homes in Bay Ranch and 40 to 50 homes in Ranchero Village were damaged.<\/p>\n

The most affected structures were those with older or less resistant constructions.<\/p>\n

Residents described the experience<\/a> as frightening.<\/p>\n

Steve Ewing, who was watching television when this tornado occurred in Florida, commented:<\/p>\n

“It was like a freight train; I heard everything tearing apart and ran to the bathroom, which is supposed to be the safest place.”<\/p>\n
