Last Tuesday, July 8, 2025, Immigration and Customs Enforcement(ICE<\/a>) agents detained Dennis Guillen-Soliz, a 30-year-old Honduran gardener, inside the Advanced Surgery Center in Ontario, California. The incident was captured on video and shows medical personnel confronting the agents, who did not present a warrant to enter the private facility.<\/p>\n

According to witnesses, Dennis Guillen-Soliz entered the clinic seeking shelter after being approached by masked agents while working in the green area of the building.<\/p>\n

DHS defends operation<\/h2>\n

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) claimed that this was a “targeted operation” against two individuals with irregular immigration status.<\/p>\n

However, Javier Hernandez, executive director of the Inland Coalition for Immigrant Justice (IC4IJ), questioned that assertion.<\/p>\n

He indicated that the agents questioned other workers until their legal status was confirmed.<\/p>\n

“The community is outraged. The clinic staff acted bravely in demanding an order, as the law mandates,” said Hernandez.<\/p>\n

In the video<\/a> circulating on social networks, medical personnel are seen trying to avoid arrest.<\/p>\n

While one of the employees demanded identification from the agents, who refused to provide it.<\/p>\n

The community is outraged<\/p>Javier Hern\u00e1ndez<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure><\/p>\n

Dennis Guillen-Soliz was clinging to a door frame to avoid being removed from the compound, which is considered a sensitive area by law.<\/p>\n

According to ICE, the staff allegedly committed an “assault” by interfering with the arrest, an argument that has been strongly criticized by civil rights advocates.<\/p>\n

He sought to support his ailing mother<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

Dennis Guillen-Soliz had recently immigrated to the U.S. with the objective of working and sending money to Honduras.<\/p>\n

This was to pay for his mother’s dialysis and diabetes treatment.<\/p>\n

The family confirmed that two of Dennis’ siblings were killed in a traffic accident, which increased their financial responsibility.<\/p>\n

Currently, it is presumed that he was transferred to the Adelanto detention center, although the family is still trying to confirm his exact whereabouts.<\/p>\n

Migrant community mobilizes in his defense<\/strong>
\nThe family of Dennis Guillen-Soliz has created a GoFundMe campaign to cover the $10,000 in legal costs needed for his defense.<\/p>\n

So far, they have managed to collect about 28% of the total.<\/p>\n

Organizations such as IC4IJ and community leaders urge the government to respect legal protocols in immigration operations.<\/p>\n

Also to avoid actions in places considered protected such as schools, churches and health centers.<\/p>\n
