In his version he declared: “I am not going to fight the system, I am going to make a peaceful resistance with art, with memory, with culture, with tradition, with respect”.<\/span><\/p>\n

The corrido reflects, in its verses, the longing of migrants:<\/span>“Almost 14 years without going to my land where I was born… everything has already changed, I pray to my God, don’t forget me”.<\/span><\/p>\n

Other stanzas say: “My mother died and my father says he is too old and I can’t go. <\/span>My children are grown, I don’t understand them anymore, they don’t speak Spanish. <\/span>He who has not seen an immigration van… a deportation has not felt fear.<\/span><\/p>\n

These excerpts illustrate the daily realities of family separation, cultural loss, fear of deportation and emotional exhaustion that many Latino families in the U.S. experience.<\/span><\/p>\n
