and &#8220;Due Process&#8221; rights.<\/p>\n<p>After several court decisions, the federally supervised Flores Agreement was signed in 1997 and remains in force to this day.<\/p>\n<h2>How to protect migrant children<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_63505\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-63505\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-63505\" src=\"https:\/\/queonnda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/acuerdo-flores-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"758\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-63505\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">PHOTO: Screenshot from the USCRI X Account.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The agreement states that minors must be:<\/p>\n<p>Housed in safe and sanitary facilities,<br \/>\nReleased without unnecessary delay to family or guardians,<br \/>\nPrioritized for family reunification,<br \/>\nAttended to with basic standards of care and medical supervision.<\/p>\n<p>Although initially temporary, it is still active because the government has never regulated permanent standards.<\/p>\n<h2>Trump Administration wants to eliminate it<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_63507\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-63507\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-63507\" src=\"https:\/\/queonnda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/acuerdo-flores-4.jpg\" alt=\"Flores Agreement\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-63507\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">PHOTO: Shutterstock<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On May 22, 2025, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/es\/espanol\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Department of Justice<\/a> filed a motion to terminate the Flores Settlement in the Central District Court of California.<\/p>\n<p>They argued that new regulations already incorporate their goals and that the agreement limits executive flexibility.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second time a Trump administration has sought to eliminate it;
