State Department<\/a> maintains a travel alert for Mexico in August 2025 that classifies entities by risk levels.<br \/>\nOnly Campeche and Yucatan appear in the lowest level, Level 1 &#8211; &#8220;normal precautions&#8221;, considered safe for U.S. visitors.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the country is placed at Level 2 &#8211; &#8220;exercise extra caution&#8221;, due to the presence of violent crimes such as homicides, kidnappings, armed robberies and vehicle thefts.
