FIFA has reiterated its confidence that all 16 host cities for the 2026 World Cup<\/a> will be fully ready to host the most ambitious tournament in soccer history. With less than a year to go before the ball rolls, world soccer’s governing body assured that infrastructure, logistics and security are on schedule in the United States, Mexico and Canada, the three host countries.<\/p>\n

This World Cup will be historic for several reasons: it will feature 48 national teams, a new competition format with more matches, and it will be the first time that three countries share the organization of a World Cup. As a result, the level of preparation required is higher than ever, and FIFA has confirmed that each city has met the deadlines established for works, remodeling and adaptations in stadiums, airports, public transportation and tourist areas.<\/p>\n

In recent weeks, the security debate has been at the center of the public conversation.<\/p>\n

Especially after U.S. President Donald Trump suggested that certain parties could be relocated if he deems some cities unsafe.<\/p>\n

Although his statements generated concern, FIFA made it clear that the decision on the venues does not depend on political statements.<\/p>\n

But of signed contracts and legal commitments with the host cities.<\/p>\n

In addition, both the federal, state and local governments have reinforced their security plans.<\/p>\n

An unprecedented deployment of police and intelligence agencies is expected to ensure the integrity of teams, fans and international delegations.<\/p>\n

Host cities have worked in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to implement protocols that include aerial surveillance and enhanced border control.<\/p>\n

As well as cybersecurity and international cooperation.<\/p>\n

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be played in 11 U.S. cities (including Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Dallas, Seattle, San Francisco and Boston).<\/p>\n

As well as 3 from Mexico (Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey) and 2 from Canada (Toronto and Vancouver).<\/p>\n

All of them have reported significant progress in infrastructure, stadium modernization and hotel preparation.<\/p>\n

In the United States, Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, near Boston, will be one of the main venues:<\/p>\n

With seven matches scheduled, including group stage, round of 16 and quarterfinals.<\/p>\n

The World Cup is expected to generate more than US$1 billion in economic impact in the region, create more than 5,000 temporary jobs and attract more than 2 million international visitors.<\/p>\n

In Mexico, the legendary Estadio Azteca will host the opening match, while Guadalajara’s Estadio Akron and Monterrey’s BBVA Stadium will be key venues for the group stage and round of 16.<\/p>\n

For its part, Canada expects to welcome hundreds of thousands of fans in Toronto and Vancouver, with renovated infrastructure and strengthened international connectivity.<\/p>\n
