What was supposed to be a routine lunch break ended in tragedy. This Monday, July 7, 2025, a 15 year-old Hispanic male member of a landscaping crew shot his fellow workers during their workday in Clute, Texas, a small city south of Houston.
The attack occurred around 1:18 p.m. in the 200 block of Dixie Drive. Witnesses alerted local police when they heard several gunshots. When officers arrived on the scene, they found three men critically wounded by gunshot wounds.
Victims and immediate response

One of the gardeners died at the scene.
Another was transported alive to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, where he died hours later.
A third worker remains in the hospital, but is expected to survive.
A fourth member of the gang managed to escape while the assailant chased him with the weapon in his hand, although he was not wounded.
The suspect was apprehended just 11 minutes after the attack in the 700 block of Plantation Drive.
After suffering a medical episode, he was taken to a local hospital and released shortly thereafter and transferred to the Brazoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
He now faces multiple felony charges, including murder and assault with a firearm.
