The murder of five members of Grupo Fugitivo, a regional Mexican music band from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, has shocked the local community and generated national outrage.

On Sunday night, May 25, 2025, the five musicians were on their way to a private performance in the Riberas del Río neighborhood in Reynosa.

Discovery of the bodies
On Wednesday, May 28, authorities located five burned bodies in a property in the Aquiles Serdán neighborhood in Reynosa.
Although the Tamaulipas Prosecutor’s Office has not officially confirmed the identity of the bodies, it is presumed that they correspond to members of the Fugitive Group.
The families of the victims have demanded DNA testing to confirm the identity of the remains.
Arrest of alleged perpetrators
The Tamaulipas Prosecutor’s Office reported the arrest of nine people allegedly linked to the murder of the musicians.
The detainees were allegedly linked to a Gulf Cartel cell known as “Los Metros”.
