The singer Chiquis Rivera shows her deep concern for the situation of the migrant community after the return to power of U.S. President Donald Trump, “it hurts me what is happening, it hurts me and I want to do more and I feel it is an injustice,” says the also U.S. television personality in an interview with EFE.

This sentiment was channeled by Rivera in ‘PA MI GENTE’, one of the singles from his new album ‘Flores En Mi Alma’, which was released on Thursday and which he dedicates to working people, whom he considers the engine of the United States.

This song is “for the people that perhaps sometimes we forget, because we are in our daily lives, but they are very important people who also contribute to this country,” explains the singer.

The inspiration for this theme came from a visit last February to farm workers in Oxnard, California, to support the Latino community.

Both Chiquis, of Mexican roots, and part of her family have defended and raised their voices to denounce immigration raids and take a stand against some government policies, such as the massive deportations of undocumented immigrants in the United States.

“What I wanted to do with this song, which is very joyful, was to remember our essence and to be proud of where we come from,” adds the artist.

A message that goes beyond the Latino community and seeks to internationalize it to remind us of the inherent strength of “people who stand up, which is difficult, especially now in life is very difficult,” insists Rivera.

Also the song ‘SOMOS’, included in the new musical work, aims to serve to “remind our people, my people, that we are important. No matter where you come from, this land does not belong to anyone, but to all of us”.

With her messages, Chiquis Rivera hopes that her followers, especially the Latino community, “feel important, because they are. I value them and I want them, more than anything, to feel that through my music,” she said, reported Agencia EFE.
