The Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Catherine (Kate), congratulated Christmas on Thursday with the publication of a new family portrait, in which they appear very smiling sitting on the grass with their three children: George, 12, Charlotte, 10, and Louis, 7.

The image, disseminated through their social networks and which curiously does not contain typical Christmas symbolism, is accompanied by this simple message: “We wish you all a very Merry Christmas”.

Kensington Palace said the snapshot was taken by professional photographer Josh Shinner last April in the English county of Norfolk, where the royal family has its Sandringham residence, which explains the lustrous green grass and yellow daffodils in the background.

All five appear dressed in shades of green and khaki, very typical of English country style.

Charlotte rests her head on her father’s shoulder, while Louis relaxes between William’s legs and Catherine embraces George, second in line to the throne.

The photo appears to be part of the same series used for the portraits of Jorge’s and Luis’ birthdays, July 22 and April 23, respectively.

The royal family, as is tradition, is expected to spend Christmas Day at their Sandringham mansion, where they usually attend a morning service in the estate’s chapel, which is often witnessed by neighbors who come by to say hello.

The Prince and Princess of Wales regained a certain normality in their daily lives this 2025 after experiencing in 2024 a year that William described as “brutal”, in which Catherine and King Charles III underwent treatment for cancer, which the sovereign is still continuing.

The princess announced last January that she was already in remission from the disease – although the type of cancer she was suffering from was never reported.

Since then, he has gradually resumed his official engagements, the latest being the celebration, last December 5, of his carol concert ‘Together at Christmas’ at Westminster Abbey in London.

After moving in 2022 from London’s Kensington Palace to Windsor (about 40 km from the capital) to be near the children’s school, a few weeks ago the family moved again, this time to a larger residence, Forest Lodge, also within the grounds of Windsor Castle.
