‘One Battle After Another’ led the nominations for the Actor’s Choice Awards, formerly known as the SAG Awards, announced Wednesday by Hollywood’s leading actors’ union, with seven nominations.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s film will compete for the Best Cast in a Motion Picture award along with ‘Sinners’, the second most nominated feature film in this edition, with five, ‘Hamnet’, ‘Marty Supreme’ and ‘Frankenstein’, by Mexican director Guillermo del Toro, in these awards, considered one of the thermometers in the race for the Oscars.
Leonardo DiCaprio is up for Best Actor in a Leading Role against Ethan Hawke (‘Blue Moon’), Michael B. Jordan (‘Sinners’), Jesse Plemons (‘Bugonia’) and Timothee Chalamet (‘Marty Supreme’), who will be looking to repeat the win he won last year with ‘A Complete Unknown’.
Her co-star, newcomer Chase Infinity, will also seek to win the statuette for Best Female Performer, where she will compete against Jessie Buckley (‘Hamnet’), Rose Byrne (‘If I had Legs I’d Kick You’), Kate Hudson (‘Song Sung Blue’) and Emma Stona (‘Bugonia’).
‘One Battle After Another’ is this year’s favorite film

Both Sean Penn and Puerto Rican Benicio del Toro earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actor, while his co-star Teyana Taylor will compete for the Supporting Actress award, consolidating the strong performance of the cast of One Battle After Another and strengthening the film’s chances in the race for the Oscars.
This edition’s awards excluded Cynthia Erivo (‘Wicked’), Brazilian Wagner Moura (‘The Secret Agent’), as well as foreign films that have been acclaimed in other awards, such as ‘Sentimental Value’.
In television, ‘The Studio’ led the nominations with five mentions, including Best Cast in a Comedy Series, a category in which it will compete alongside ‘Abbott Elementary’, ‘The Bear’, ‘Hacks’ and ‘Only Murders in the Building’.
In the running for best cast in a drama series are ‘The Diplomat’, ‘Landman’, ‘The Pitt’, ‘Severance’ and ‘The White Lotus’.
The SAG Awards, as they were popularly known before adopting the name Actors Awards as of this edition, are part of the Hollywood recognition carousel, and serve as a thermometer to measure the stakes of the most important awards in the film industry.
The winners will be announced on March 1 at the 32nd edition of these awards, which honor the best performances in leading and supporting roles and casts of the seventh art and the small screen.
This ceremony has been broadcast since last year on Netflix, where its audience has increased: according to data from the platform, that year it obtained 4.3 million views, reported Agencia EFE.
