Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ was the best-selling album of 2025 in the U.S., adding physical copies, digital copies and number of listens, with 5.6 million units, while Bad Bunny’s ‘DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS’ came in fifth, with 2.3 million.

As for the most played songs on platforms, the trophy goes to Alex Warren for his ‘Ordinary’, with 746.2 million listens, followed by Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s ‘Luther’, according to data from data firm Luminate, cited by Bilboard and Variety.

Data corresponding to a year in which the total consumption of music albums in the U.S. increased by 4.8 percent over 2024, while that of music on platforms increased by 4.6 percent, with 1.4 billion plays.

Although it was not well received by critics, Swift’s latest work did please her fans, who made the album the most popular in the United States in all categories.

‘The Life of a Show Girl’ sold 1.6 million copies on vinyl and 1.9 million CDs, to which is added the conversion into units of album listens on platforms, giving the total of 5.60 million.

This is the fourth time Swift has topped the chart, which she already crowned in 2024 with ‘The Tortures Poets Department’, in 2014 with ‘1989’ and in 2009 with ‘Fearless’.

In second position is country singer Morgan Wallen, with 5.1 million units of his album ‘I’m the Problem’. Artist who reappears in eighth place, with 1.9 million of ‘One Thing at a Time’.

SZA is in third place, with ‘SOS’, with sales of 2.5 million units; the soundtrack to the movie ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’, is fourth, with 2.42 million, with Bad Bunny close behind, with 2.39.

Rounding out the top 10 are Kendrick Lamar and his ‘GNX’ with 2.2 million; Sabrina Carpenter with ‘Short n’ Sweet’ (2 million); PARTYNEXTDOOR and Drake with ‘$ome $exy $ongs 4 U’ (1.7) and Tate McRae with ‘So Close To What’ (1.6).

A curiosity is the appearance in the list of best-selling vinyl of classic titles such as ‘Thriller’ (1982), by Michael Jackson, with 182,000 copies, or ‘Rumours’ (1977), by Fleetwood Mac, with 190,000.

And when it comes to songs, ‘Ordinary’, one of the songs included in Alex Warren’s debut album, ‘You’ll Be Alright, Kid’, has dominated, surpassing 746 million listens.

‘Luther’ by Kendrick Lamar and SZA reached 714.4 million and ‘Golden’, the title track of ‘K-Pop Demon HUnters’ by HUNTR/X: EJAE, Audrey Nuna and REI AMI, 656.1 million.

Another of the most listened to songs of the year in the United States was ‘Die With a Smile’, by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, with 611.8 million. And ‘I’m the Problem’, by Morgan Wallen, rose to 578.4 million.

Completing the top ten are Teddy Swims’ ‘Lose Control’ (558.1 million listens); Shaboozey’s ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ (527.2); Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ (524); The Marias’ ‘No One Noticed’ (516.8) and Billie Eilish’s ‘BIRDS OF A FEATHER’ (511.8 million), reported Agencia EFE.
