The fight was confirmed as part of Ring Royale 2026, a boxing-show event produced by Poncho de Nigris, to be held on March 15, 2026 at Arena Monterrey.

Trejo denied having backed out in the past and maintained that the previous confrontations were not carried out because of legal restraining orders, a version he had mentioned on other occasions.
He also stated that he is willing to accept the rules of engagement.
