Mexico’s participation in the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games came to an end with the performance of skier Lasse Gaxiola, who competed in the men’s alpine slalom event on the Stelvio slope in Italy.
At just 18 years of age, Gaxiola was the last member of the Mexican delegation to take part in action and also the last to qualify for the winter competition, just weeks before the opening ceremony.

In the Milano-Cortina 2026 slalom event, Gaxiola failed to complete the first descent after running off the track.
It was a competition marked by demanding conditions.
Of the 93 registered skiers, 44 were unable to finish the race, reflecting the high level of difficulty.
Gold went to Switzerland’s Loïc Meillard, followed by Austria’s Fabio Gstrein and Norway’s Henrik Kristoffersen.
Previously, Gaxiola had finished 53rd in the giant slalom, a result that is part of his first Olympic experience.

Lasse Gaxiola and Sarah Schleper became the first mother and son to compete in the same edition of the Olympic Winter Games representing Mexico.
