The cry of “Glory to the Brave People!” resounded louder than ever at Miami’s LoanDepot Park. In a night that will remain engraved in gold letters, Venezuela was crowned champion of the 2026 World Baseball Classic and the best baseball team on the planet, after defeating the powerful United States team 3-2.
The hero of the ninth inning was Eugenio Suárez, who broke the tie with a golden double and unleashed madness in the stands, packed with Venezuelan fans who turned the Marlins stadium into an authentic Caribbean cauldron.

Victory began to be forged early.
Salvador Pérez opened the scoreboard in the third inning, and shortly after, Wilyer Abreu sent the ball into the street with a solo home run to make it 2-0.
However, the real protagonist was the pitching.
Eduardo Rodriguez had a near-perfect opening day, silencing a U.S. lineup stacked with superstars like Aaron Judge and Bobby Witt Jr.
The Venezuelan bullpen was unbeatable, allowing just 3 hits to one of the most feared offenses in the world.

Tension reached its peak in the eighth inning when star Bryce Harper hit a two-run homer to tie the game, threatening to spoil the party for the Vinotinto.
But this Venezuela of 2026 has a different DNA.
In the top of the ninth, after a base on balls by Luis Arráez, the speed of Javier Sanoja came in, who stole second base after a heart-stopping play review.
It was then that Suárez’s lumber appeared to bring in the difference run.

With the score 3-2, Daniel Palencia went to the mound to face the final judgment.
With nerves of steel, he struck out Kyle Schwarber and forced the necessary outs to seal the win.
When the last out fell, the diamond was flooded with tricolores in a celebration that stretched from Miami to the farthest corner of Venezuela.
Venezuela ends the tournament with an impressive record of 6 wins and only one loss.
On their way to the title, they dispatched no less than the reigning champions, Japan (8-5) in the quarterfinals and Italy (4-2) in the semis, proving that “Yes we can” was more than a slogan: it was a reality.
