Telemundo has announced the upcoming premiere of its new series, “Velvet: El Nuevo Imperio”, a modern adaptation of the hit Spanish production “Velvet”.

The series is scheduled to debut in May 2025, although the exact date has not yet been confirmed.

“Velvet: The New Empire” transports the original narrative to the dynamic world of fashion in New York City, offering a contemporary and fresh perspective on the story that captivated international audiences.

The plot centers on Ana Velázquez, played by Samantha Siqueiros, a talented designer struggling to make a name for herself in the fashion industry, and her relationship with Alberto Márquez, played by Yon González, heir to a prestigious fashion house.

The cast of the series features prominent actors, including Carolina Miranda as antagonist Cristina Otegui, Chantal Andere as Blanca Morales, Danilo Carrera as Carlos Aristizábal, Humberto Zurita as Benjamín Márquez, and Itatí Cantoral as Isabel Juárez.

The production also includes Sofía Aragón, Jorge Aravena, Gaby Borges, Luciano D’Alessandro, Leonardo Daniel, Osvaldo de León, Bernardo Flores, Josh Gutiérrez, Candela Márquez, Aylín Mújica, Daniella Navarro, Camila Núñez, Jeimy Osorio, Carlos Ponce, Sonya Smith and Sahit Sosa, making up a first class cast.

When did filming begin?

Production on “Velvet: El Nuevo Imperio” began in February 2025 at the Telemundo Center studios in Miami, Florida, and at various locations in New York.

The series is directed by Danny Gavidia, Miguel Varoni and Ricardo Schwarz, with Elizabeth Suárez as executive producer and Minú Chacin as general producer.
