Ready or not, El Tri faces two big tests this September

MexTour includes matches against Switzerland and Türkiye

Mexico National Team continues its preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a tournament that will be held at home along with the United States and Canada. As part of its friendly match schedule, the tricolor team will play two key matches during the September 2025 FIFA Date.

Both matches will be against high-level Asian rivals: Japan and South Korea, World Cup teams that will serve as an excellent test for the team coached by Javier Aguirre, the current interim coach following the departure of Jaime Lozano.

The Mexican National Team’s first match will be against Japan on Friday, September 6, at Alameda County Stadium in Oakland, California.

This game not only has sporting appeal, but is expected to be well attended by the Mexican community in the Bay Area.

Three days later, on Tuesday, September 9, Mexico will face South Korea.

Although the venue has yet to be confirmed, specialized media report that a southern U.S. city, such as Houston or Dallas, is being considered to take advantage of the concentration of Latino fans.

There will be activity in June

In addition to the September window, the MexTour 2025 will kick off in June with two more preparation matches on U.S. soil.

On Saturday, June 7, the Mexican National Team will face Switzerland in Salt Lake City, and on Tuesday, June 10, it will take on Turkey in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

These matches are part of the Mexican Soccer Federation’s (FMF) strategy to maintain a competitive rhythm.

Also to evaluate new talent and get closer to Mexican fans in the U.S., considered one of the most loyal and numerous.
