Mexican actor and producer Eugenio Derbez has joined the growing voices condemning the recent immigration raids carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Los Angeles.
Through his social networks, Derbez shared videos and messages denouncing the inhumane treatment of immigrants, highlighting the separation of families and the excessive use of force during detentions.
Context of the raids and protests

In one of his publications, he said: “We are not criminals. We are human beings, hard-working people who do everything we can to support our families. Treating us like this is not only unfair, it is inhumane.
The raids, which began on June 6, 2025, are part of “Operation Safeguard,” a federal initiative aimed at quickly detaining and deporting undocumented immigrants in sanctuary cities such as Los Angeles.
These actions have resulted in the arrest of at least 44 people, including 11 Mexican nationals.
The community response has been immediate, with protests spreading throughout the city and other parts of the country.
Protesters have denounced the use of aggressive tactics by the authorities, including the deployment of the National Guard and marines, as well as the use of tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the crowds.
Eiza Gonzalez and Diego Boneta also do the same

Mexican artists such as Eiza Gonzalez and Diego Boneta have raised their voices about the raids in Los Angeles and the way Hispanics are being treated.
The actress said: “Our citizenship and place of residence are pure luck or, often, a reflection of our parents’ sacrifices, but a privilege nonetheless. Reflect before judging acts of desperation that you are lucky enough to know nothing about.”
While Boneta said, “More than heartbroken. This is not right. We are better than this.
Support from public figures and local leaders

In addition to Derbez, other public figures have expressed their rejection of the raids and their solidarity with the immigrant community.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass criticized ICE’s actions, stating that these tactics sow terror in communities and disrupt basic principles of security in the city.
For his part, California Governor Gavin Newsom has condemned the arrest of community leaders and called for an end to the raids..

Hispanics’ stance with Eugenio Derbez
