Greece’s Kyle Hamilton became the highest-paid deep defender in NFL history on Wednesday with the four-year, $100 million contract extension he signed with the Baltimore Ravens.

The 24-year-old will earn an average of $25 million per season, surpassing Kerby Joseph of the Detroit Lions, who earns $21.25 million per year.

For the Ravens, Kyle Hamilton will enter his fourth season this 2025 after being selected in the first round of the 2022 Draft.

Baltimore preferred to tie up the player, who has become the heart and soul of the team’s defensive secondary, rather than wait for him to become even more expensive at the end of the 2026 season.

Kyle Hamilton, a two-time Pro Bowl performer, is known for his versatility. The former Notre Dame college soccer star can line up at any position in the defensive secondary.

He can play deep downfield, in the slot, as a cornerback in post coverages or outside linebacker, making him a nightmare for opposing pass rushers.

Last year, in the face of multiple defensive injuries in Baltimore, Kyle Hamilton moved from his slot role to full-time deep patrolling deep. He was in on 407 plays in that area, 355 as a free safety, 292 as a slot, 78 on the outside defensive line and 18 as a corner.

In three years in the NFL, the native of Heraklion, Crete, has accumulated 250 tackles, seven quarterback catches, four forced fumbles, one recovered, 27 passes defended, five interceptions and one defensive touchdown.

For the 2025 season, Kyle Hamilton will remain the cornerstone of a deep defense that also features the experienced Marlon Humphrey, Nate Wiggins, Jaire Alexander and rookie Malaki Starks.

The Baltimore Ravens will make their regular season debut on September 7 when they visit the Buffalo Bills, according to EFE.
