The FBI on Thursday released two photographs of the suspect in the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, committed Wednesday on a Utah college campus, showing a white male wearing dark pants, sweatshirt and cap, and wearing sunglasses.
“We are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,” reads the text accompanying the images, captured from what appears to be video taken by security cameras and posted by the X account of the FBI’s office in Salt Lake City, Utah’s capital city.
FBI launches manhunt for Kirk’s killer

The sweatshirt worn by the man appears to be printed with the image of an American flag with a bald eagle superimposed on it.
Kirk, known for holding discussion forums at schools in the United States, died Wednesday after being shot in the neck while speaking at an event hosted by Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem.
The joint team investigating the case, consisting of the FBI and the Utah Department of Public Safety, has activated what they have termed a “manhunt” for the man in the images.
Investigators told a news conference that they have recovered in a wooded area near the UVU campus what they believe to be the weapon used to kill Kirk, a high-powered bolt-action rifle.
Weapon and video of Kirk attack revealed
The New York Post has published a photo it claims to have obtained from the investigation, showing a hunting rifle equipped with a telescopic sight.
The investigation team has also explained that the shooter fired from the roof of a campus building located about 180 meters from the scene where Kirk was located when he was shot.
A video shared on social media taken from behind the area where Kirk was standing shows a silhouette moving quickly on a nearby rooftop seconds after the shot was fired, EFE reported.
