Renowned Cuban musician Alain Perez said Monday that he received “as an injection” the nomination for the Latin Grammy Awards 2025 for his new album ‘Bingo’, which he will present this week to the Cuban public in Havana.

Perez told EFE, during a press conference in the Cuban capital, that the nomination is “a prize to be among hundreds or thousands of albums that are presented to the Latin Grammys. That’s already Bingo”.

The instrumentalist, composer, producer, arranger and singer felt “a joy, a reward” when he learned last Wednesday that his album was nominated in the Tropical-Contemporary category awarded by the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

Pérez described Bingo as “a song, a metaphor of joy, it is a celebration of when we win, it is the power of music” and reflects that “each album is a dream, a journey, a meeting with the music that one is maturing, that which one has lived, that which one dreams of and that which one wants to share”.

He also said that the moment reminds him of his experience as winner of the best Tropical-Traditional album in the 2021 edition, with the album ‘Cha cha cha chá: Homenaje a lo tradicional’, of which he was producer.

“We were happy for the nomination, but when the bell rings and they announce that the award goes to ‘Cha cha chá’, that was tremendous, very exciting,” he said.

Alaín Pérez is nominated for the 26th Latin Grammy Awards, to be held on November 13, 2025 in the U.S. city of Las Vegas, along with other Cuban artists living on the island and in other countries, reported Agencia EFE, including Camila Guevara, Isaac Delgado, Orquesta Faílde, Iván “Melón” Lewis, Pedrito Martínez, Ariel Brínguez and Aldo López Gavilán, Chucho Valdés, Gloria Estefan, Paquito D’Rivera, Malena Burke, Meme Solís and Albita Rodríguez.
