Puerto Rican phenomenon Bad Bunny and Colombian band Morat won three Premios Juventud awards Thursday night, while Karol G, with two awards, was crowned Artist of the Year.
“This is all a big surprise. We dreamed it, I don’t know if anyone really expected it this way. We have been lucky, besides being surprised with something that is very incredible, it is the people we have met with whom we have come this far,” Morat told the press.
Specifically, Bad Bunny, who was not present, won in the categories of Best Urban Song with ‘DTMF’, as well as Best Urban Album with the album of the same name and Best Urban Collaboration with the song ‘Adivino’ with the Puerto Rican Myke Towers.
Thus, the pop-rock group Morat won Favorite Group or Duo of the Year and Best Pop/Rock Song with the song ‘Me Toca a Mí’ together with the Colombian Camilo, and in the category of Best Pop Album with their album ‘Ya Es Mañana’.
While Colombian sensation Karol G, who was also absent from the awards, was recognized as Artist of the Year and also won Tropical Hit of the Year with the merengue ‘Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido’.
Dominican Natti Natasha won two awards, one in the category Best Tropical Album for the album ‘Natti Natasha en Amargue’, and another in the category Best ‘Dance Track’ with the song ‘Como la flor’. In the meantime, the singer revealed that she is expecting a baby girl.
In addition, the Mexican Carín León won in the category of Best Mexican Music Song with the song ‘El Amor de Mi Herida’ and Best Mexican Music Album with the album ‘Boca Chueca, Vol.1’.In the same way, Puerto Rican singer and songwriter De La Rose won the New Female Generation award and the Best Alternative Urban Song category with the song ‘Nubes’, while Puerto Rican Roa won the New Male Generation award.
Premios Juventud and highlights

Myke Tower, the singer who was recognized as an Agent of Change, told the press with the statuettes in hand that “for me it is an honor to be one of the bridges to change the mentality of the youth and to guide and motivate them on the right path”.
The renowned Colombian singer Carlos Vives was also honored as an Agent of Change: “I chose to work with the music of my land, with my roots, to understand that diversity, to value it. A little bit attached to the affection of my childhood and my family who taught me to love that music and the territory”.
There were also awards for content creators, and there Dominican Jess Judith Ortiz was the winner of the Creator of the Year category, while Mexico’s Alexis Omman was awarded as Creator with a Social Cause, Colombia’s Los Chicaneros as Best LOL and Mexico’s Luisito Comunica in #ModoAvión.
This is the first time that the Premios Juventud are held outside the United States, with Panama hosting this edition in which 231 artists competed in 41 categories: thirty in music, three in television and streaming, and eight in social networks.
This year’s awards also added eight new categories, including Best Alternative Mexican Music Song, which recognizes fusions of traditional Mexican sounds with other styles; Best Pop/Rhythmic Song, for combinations of pop and electronic music; and Latin Afrobeat of the Year, which celebrates contributions to this emerging musical style.
According to Agencia EFE, the show opened with trumpets playing the rhythm of ‘La Murga’ with Willie Colón singing the iconic song, accompanied by a group of typical Panamanian dancers dressed in elegant polleras, the women’s traditional dress, and a painted hat and camilla, the men’s handmade shirt.
