Mexican actor Diego Calva, known for his sudden foray into Hollywood with ‘Babylon’ (2022), shared on his social networks the news that he will be part of the cast of ‘Baton’, the film with which the interpreter Danny Ramirez (‘Captain America: Brave New World’) debuts as director.
Without giving details about his role, Calva shared on his Instagram stories the news published by Deadline magazine, which confirms the cast of this soccer drama written by the director of Mexican and Colombian descent, who also played soccer during college so it is a project built with personal dyes.
Ramirez will be joined in the production by Spain’s Ester Esposito (‘Élite’), Camila Mendes (‘Do Revenge’), Mia Maestro (‘Watch The Binding’), Noah Beck (‘Sidelined’), Lewis Pullman (‘Thunderbolts’), as well as singers Becky G (‘Blue Beetle’) and Maia Reficco (‘La Dolce Villa’).

‘Batón’ follows the steps of a soccer player who fights for the dream of becoming a professional player, however, his relationship with his sister puts that goal to the test and he is expelled from his team, although the protagonist will risk everything for a new opportunity in soccer.
The feature film takes place at a time when America will star in the 2026 World Cup, reported Agencia EFE, which could make it popular among Latin American and U.S. audiences.
