Daniel Arenas’ return to Mexican television has attracted attention because it comes after a period in which he kept a much more discreet profile, especially after his departure from Telemundo’ s morning show Hoy Día in 2024.
On that occasion, the Colombian actor made it clear that his decision was voluntary and that it was about closing a cycle in his life. In a public letter shared on Instagram and picked up by People en Español, Arenas explained that he decided to conclude that stage “100% of his own free will” and thanked the network and the show’s team for the opportunity.
Now, the actor is returning to a leading role in TelevisaUnivision, the company where he has developed a good part of his career in telenovelas.
Arenas is already part of the main cast of Guardián de mi corazón, a new telenovela produced by Juan Osorio. The project is headed by Silvia Navarro and Daniel Arenas, accompanied by Paulina Goto and Diego Klein as the leading quartet, according to information released by Las Estrellas based on publications shared by the producer himself.
In that sense, his return is not a cameo or a special participation: it puts him back in the kind of central character with which the public has identified him for years.
Daniel Arenas returns: When did filming begin?

Regarding the start of production, journalist Álvaro Cueva reported that filming of Guardián de mi corazón began on Monday, December 8, 2025, and that the start of production did not take place in a traditional forum, but in a Mexico City subway station, where it generated a lot of public attention.
As for the premiere, Televisa’s own entertainment media have stated that the melodrama would be released in 2026, while filming was scheduled to begin in December.
Guardián de mi corazón is shaping up to be a new version based on the Argentine telenovela Amor en custodia. In Mexico, a previous adaptation of that story was Amores verdaderos ( 2012), starring Erika Buenfil and Eduardo Yáñez, a production that became one of the most remembered titles of that period.
When he left Hoy Día, Arenas also had words of gratitude for the public and Telemundo, and remarked that the decision was not due to a conflict, but to a personal change. In addition, Telemundo issued a position stating that the host decided to leave his role and acknowledging his professionalism.
With this return to telenovelas in Mexico, Daniel Arenas opens a new stage in front of the cameras, now with a project that reintegrates him fully to the prime time melodrama and a high profile production within TelevisaUnivision.
