On the afternoon of December 10, Aislinn Derbez worried her followers when she shared on her Instagram stories a photograph showing her left arm cannulated with a venous catheter, which immediately generated speculation about a possible emergency hospitalization.

Along with the image, the actress wrote a message in which she summarized how intense this year has been for her: “If I told you the amount of things that have happened this month… I can’t even believe it… a hurricane of madness, renewal and healing, but with more peace than ever and accompanied by so much love that my heart explodes”.

At the time, she did not give details about the cause of the medical procedure nor did she specify whether she was hospitalized, which increased uncertainty among her fans.

Aislinn’s complex health situation comes just a few weeks after the death of her mother, renowned dubbing actress Gabriela Michel, on November 24. It was Aislinn herself who publicly confirmed the death and the cause: a heart attack.

Through a statement released on social networks, Eugenio Derbez’s eldest daughter thanked the expressions of affection and asked for respect to live her grief in private: she expressed that she needed to process this farewell “in the company of my family” and “from a place of love”, stressing the sensitivity of the moment for all members of the family.

Gabriela Michel, in addition to being Eugenio Derbez’s first wife and Aislinn’s mother, had a long career in Mexican dubbing, lending her voice to characters such as Samantha Jones in Sex and the City and Queen Clarion in the Tinker Bell movies.

Hours after the catheter photo, Aislinn Derbez clarified in another series of stories that the canalization in her arm was due to a scheduled surgery, which she had been putting off for more than a year “out of fear.” Without revealing the type of procedure, she explained that she could no longer delay it and decided to face it in the midst of all the other things she was going through.

The actress explained that, in less than a month, she had “many complex things to digest”: a difficult remodeling and moving, the death of her mother, a retreat from La Magia del Caos, the aforementioned surgery and various work issues, describing the whole period as “one of those whirlwinds that hurt, but that make you grow exponentially”.

In additional messages, Aislinn referred to 2025 as a year that forced her to “let go,” and shared reflections on how crises can become opportunities for profound transformation, although she did not offer any specific medical diagnosis or further details about her physical health status.

Despite the pain of the moment, Aislinn insisted that she has also found a lot of peace and gratitude. She attributed much of her strength to the support of her “tribe”, the name she uses to refer to the people close to her: family, friends and collaborators of her podcast La Magia del Caos.

The actress shared that she recently participated in a retreat organized by the team of her podcast, which she defined as “one of the most incredible retreats” they have ever held. In that space, where she was accompanied by her brother Vadhir Derbez and other people close to her, she worked on her grief and emotional healing process after the death of her mother.

In her final messages, Aislinn stressed that “these things should not be experienced alone” and encouraged her followers not to go through their difficult processes in isolation, remembering that the growth, beauty and potential that emerge after the chaos are also built thanks to the support network and emotional tools that each person develops.
