Spain’s Santi Aldama matched his NBA scoring career high with 37 points in the Memphis Grizzlies’ 128-137 win over the Utah Jazz on Tuesday, three days after he recorded that same scoring mark against the Washington Wizards.

Aldama, who returned to the starting lineup, equaled his NBA scoring record with 13-of-21 shooting from the field, including 4-of-7 three-pointers, and made 4 of the 7 free throws he attempted. He also added 5 rebounds and 7 assists on the night.

Unlike last Saturday’s game against the Wizards, in which the Grizzlies were defeated, the Spaniard’s performance was enough to give his team the victory on Utah’s court.

Jaren Jackson Jr, added 21 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, while Cam Spencer recorded 11 points and 13 assists as the starting point guard.

For the Jazz, who were without Lauri Markkanen due to injury, Kyle Filipowski was the surprising top scorer with 25 points, to which he added 13 rebounds.

Keyonte George added 24 points and Taylor Hendricks chipped in with 21 off the bench.

The Grizzlies continued to miss Ja Morant due to injury.

Memphis is currently ninth in the Western Conference with 14 wins and 16 losses.

The Jazz are out of the playoffs with 10 wins and 18 losses, the last three in a row.

The road from Aldama to Memphis

Santi Aldama came to the Memphis Grizzlies after being selected in the 30th position of the 2021 NBA Draft.

Although he was initially selected by the Utah Jazz, his rights were traded that same night to Memphis as part of a trade.

The Spanish power forward was a standout at Loyola Maryland University, where he showed a modern profile:

Height, outside shooting and good reading of the game.

The Grizzlies bet on his long-term development and gradually integrated him into the team, alternating minutes in the NBA and the G League.

With constant work, Aldama earned a place in the rotation and today he is an important part of the Memphis project.
