Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz surprised everyone by winning the recording of the year award for the song ‘Palmeras en el jardín’, during the 26th edition of the Latin Grammy Awards held in Las Vegas.

Upon receiving the award, Sanz noted that this project had been his heartfelt return to music. “Music has been my life so after so many years I have fallen in love with it,” he said.

“Benito, I stole it from you, forgive me,” said Sanz to the Puerto Rican superstar, who was the favorite of the night, while holding the golden gramophone in his hand.

Palmeras en el jardín’ is part of the album ‘¿Y ahora qué?’, which Sanz released in May and is a personal project that came four years after his last album, after going through professional changes, such as a change of record label, and personal experiences, including a public love breakup.
