The renowned singer from Monterrey, Mexico, Alicia Villarreal, known as La Güerita Consentida, confirmed this August 6, 2025 that her marriage to musician and producer Cruz Martínez, leader of Kumbia Kings, has been legally terminated.

The conflict erupted in February 2025, when Alicia filed a complaint for gender violence against Martínez, following physical aggressions and theft of her belongings -including her passport, wallet and cell phone- at her home in Monterrey.

Shortly thereafter, he gave an international distress signal during a concert in Michoacán, which mobilized media and public support.

As a result, a restraining order was issued preventing Cruz from approaching Villarreal. Martinez, initially on the run for missing a hearing on July 3, obtained an injunction to temporarily prevent his arrest while the judicial process continues.

Sincere emotions: the closing “of a cycle that had to end”.

Awareness of domestic violence: Villarreal’s gesture in the middle of a concert and his public denunciation make abuse visible even among admired figures, reaffirming that no one is exempt.

Importance of restraining orders: A legal framework that can protect victims, even without constant media visibility.

Right to rebuild and heal: Alicia claims that closing painful cycles is a step towards personal and professional recovery.

In Ventaneando, the singer commented: “It was important to get to that point of achieving my freedom, I needed to get out of there, I feel that I had not done well”.
