Bad Bunny’s alternate concert at the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday drew a peak of just over six million viewers on YouTube simultaneously.
Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice or Gabby Barrett were the artists who performed during the event organized by the conservative association ‘Turning Point USA’, founded in 2012 by the recently murdered MAGA (‘Make America Great Again’) activist Charlie Kirk.
Alternative concert to the halftime show is a hit
The concert began almost parallel to the Puerto Rican artist’s concert in an attempt to counter-program his performance, although YouTube yielded a maximum of 6.1 million simultaneous viewers during the concert.
During most of the event, the audience ranged from 4.5 to 5.5 million viewers on that platform.
The performance was also rebroadcast on other platforms of the organization, although they did not obtain permission to share it live on X.
In addition, conservative channels such as OAN News, Real America’s Voice, TBN, NTD and The National News Desk also joined in its broadcast, according to the Turning Point USA website.
Gilbert was in charge of opening the concert and welcomed the audience to the shout of “this is the real America”, while Kidd Rock closed the concert at the top of the stage, in the background of which a huge American flag could be seen.
The performance of the four conservative artists lasted about thirty minutes, almost twice as long as Bad Bunny’s show.
The organization of Kirk, who was killed last September 10 at a university event in Utah, had announced the concert since October following criticism from Trump and sectors of the MAGA movement against Bad Bunny because he sings in Spanish, although as a Puerto Rican he is a U.S. citizen.
U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth posted an image of the concert on social networking site X and claimed he was watching it with his family.
