Mexican Andres Muñoz, current Seattle Mariners’ closer, is signing one of the best season openings in MLB 2025. At only 25 years old, the right-handed speedster has shown maturity, control and absolute dominance on the mound. After 11 appearances in April, he maintains a 0.00 ERA with seven saves and 10 strikeouts.

In addition, his WHIP (bases on balls + hits per inning pitched) of 1.14 and his batting average against of just .174 make him one of the most consistent relievers in the American League. His last performance occurred in the closing game against the Cincinnati Reds, where he sealed the 11-7 win without complications.

Physical and mental strength

One of the main attributes of Andrés Muñoz is his power:

It consistently launches straight lines in excess of 100 mph.

However, what is making him truly lethal in 2025 is the addition of a new changeup with drop speed, which has baffled opposing hitters and expanded his arsenal.

After his participation in the 2024 All-Star Game and a solid 2.12 ERA campaign, Andres Muñoz arrived in 2025 with the mission of consolidating himself as one of the best closers in Major League Baseball.

And so far, it is exceeding expectations.

His ability to keep his composure under pressure has been key in a season where the Mariners have had close games.

Seattle currently sits second in the American League West Division behind the 2023 champion Texas Rangers.

A source of pride

For the Latino community in the U.S., Andres Muñoz’s season represents not only a sporting achievement, but also a source of inspiration.

His story, from his beginnings in Sinaloa to becoming a major league player, reflects the effort, perseverance and talent that many young Latinos share.

In addition, his current level makes him a key player in the bullpen of the Mexican national team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

It should be remembered that Andrés Muñoz did not participate in the 2023 edition, so his inclusion in the tricolor team would be a great addition for a ninth team that will seek to make history.

If his performance is sustained, Andres Munoz will not only be crucial for the Mariners to reach the postseason.

He could also receive again an invitation to the All-Star Game and, why not, fight for the Reliever of the Year award.

Everything indicates that 2025 will be an unforgettable year for him and for the fans who follow his career from Mexico and the United States.
