Anthony Edwards shines without Curry, Durant bails out Rockets and Cavs dominate

Pistons strengthen their lead in the East

Anthony Edwards scored 42 points Friday in the Minnesota Timberwolves’ comfortable 127-117 win at the Golden State Warriors without Steph Curry, in an NBA game in which Kevin Durant rescued the Houston Rockets with the winning basket against the New Orleans Pelicans.

In addition, the Cleveland Cavaliers strolled over the Dallas Mavericks and the Detroit Pistons strengthened their lead in the East with a win against the Memphis Grizzlies without Spaniard Santi Aldama.

Warriors decimated in San Francisco

At the Chase Center in San Francisco, the Wolves took advantage of a Warriors without Steph Curry.

Still hampered by a right knee injury suffered at the end of January.

Curry, 38, joins Jimmy Butler, who suffered a torn cruciate muscle, and Draymond Green, who has been bothered by back problems.

Durant capped his 32 points with the game-winning basket with 7.6 seconds on the clock in the Rockets’ game against the Pelicans.

Houston won 107-105 to catch the Los Angeles Lakers in third place in the West with a 41-25 record.

KD was supported by a 23-point, 12-rebound, 8-assist performance from Amen Thompson on a night when Turkey’s Alperen Sengun was absent.

If the Rockets are fighting at the top of the West, their Texan neighbors the Mavericks continue their season of suffering, after being overwhelmed 138-105 at home by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Mavs, who had snapped an eight-game losing streak with a win against the Grizzlies, were back to their old ways at home and no longer have postseason ambitions.

That Conference is led by the Detroit Pistons, who took a breath of fresh air and added their third consecutive victory.

This was to reinforce their lead in the NBA East after a 126-110 win over a Grizzlies full of injuries, including the loss of the Canary Aldama.

Jalen Duren led the Pistons to victory with a double-double of 30 points and 13 rebounds and led a group of 7 Detroit players in double digits in scoring.

The Pistons lead the East with a 48-18 record, ahead of the Celtics (43-23) who lost 3 of their previous 5 games.

It was a relief for Detroit, which after dominating the season had taken a paid slump with four straight losses.

22 rebounds for Mitchell Robinson
Behind Detroit and Boston are the New York Knicks, who beat the Indiana Pacers (101-92) in a rematch of last year’s conference finals.

Jalen Brunson led the New Yorkers with 29 points, OG Anunoby contributed 15 and Mitchell Robinson dominated in the paint with as many as 22 rebounds.
