Jorge Perez, executive director of Discover Puerto Rico and strategic advisor, said Monday that he would not recommend the presence of Anuel AA at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico after the latest shooting at the venue, which is suspected to be a new warning to the urban artist.
“This is the second time a similar incident has occurred with this artist. After this second occasion and according to the information, apparently the message was for him. But if someone asks me, I as a strategic advisor, I would think that his presentation at the Coliseo should not be allowed,” Perez told Magic 97.3.

The Coliseo was shot at in 2019, coinciding with a Daddy Yankee concert to which Anuel AA was invited in Puerto Rico, and last Friday, when the singer was to participate in a celebrity basketball game.
According to Pérez, who oversees the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum, among other venues, the risk of Anuel performing at the island’s main entertainment venue is “very high”.
“Our priority is the safety of our fans and employees,” said the executive director of Discover Puerto Rico, the agency that promotes the island as a destination.
Last Friday, six hooded men on motorcycles fired shots at the Coliseum, leaving some twenty broken windows and more than 150 bullet casings of different calibers.
Four Coliseo employees were inside the venue during the attack, although none were injured.
The attack prompted the cancellation of a press conference to give details of an NBA preseason game between the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic the following day.
As well as the cancellation of Anuel’s participation in the aforementioned celebrity game.
Anuel AA, who was imprisoned in 2016 for illegal possession of weapons, has so far not offered any concert at the Coliseo, the main venue of the island and desired place for all artists of the urban genre.
Any decision related to vetoes or restrictions on the presentation of artists in public facilities rests with the Government of Puerto Rico, through the Department of Public Safety and the Convention Center District Authority.
