As soon as the Apertura tournament came to an end, Liga MX clubs began to move their players with an eye on the next championship. One of the first teams to do so was Atlas, which confirmed the arrival of Argentine defender Rodrigo Schlegel, from Major League Soccer(MLS), as a reinforcement for its defensive line.

The announcement was made by the club through its official channels, in a clear sign that the red and black board is seeking to strengthen a key area after an irregular semester. For Rodrigo Schlegel, this signing represents his first experience in Mexican soccer and a new challenge in his professional career, after consolidating his position for several seasons in the United States.

He was formed in the basic forces of Racing Club, with whom he made his professional debut in 2017.

He was part of the squad that won the 2018-2019 Argentine Superliga and the Champions Trophy.

During his time at Orlando City, Rodrigo Schlegel became a regular fixture in the defense and, over time, one of the most important players in the locker room.

He was part of the squad that won the 2022 US Open Cup, one of the most important official titles in US soccer.

Throughout his time in MLS, he accumulated more than 150 official games, providing experience, leadership and defensive consistency.

His profile as a defender strong in the air and with the ability to play out from the back was key to arouse Atlas’ interest.

For Atlas, the arrival of Rodrigo Schlegel means the addition of a defender with international experience, accustomed to physical leagues and demanding schedules.

This is especially valuable for short tournaments such as Liga MX.

In addition, his recent stint in U.S. soccer is relevant for Hispanic fans in the U.S., who have closely followed his career in MLS and will now be able to see him compete in one of the most followed championships on the continent.
