Regional Mexican music is in mourning after confirming the death of Gerson Leos, musician and member of Banda MS, in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, the city where the group, responsible for hits such as “No me pidas perdón” and “El color de tus ojos”, was born.
The news caused commotion among fans, colleagues and members of the artistic world, who expressed their sadness at the unexpected loss of one of the musicians who were part of the band’s team.
Banda MS announced the unfortunate news through their official Instagram account, where they shared an emotional farewell message. “Today we say goodbye to Gerson with great sadness, but also with gratitude for everything he left in those who knew him. We heartily accompany his family, friends and loved ones in this difficult moment,” they wrote.
The message, signed by the group and the Lizárraga family, added words that reflect the affection and respect they felt for their colleague: “Gerson will always remain with us, in his music, in his memory and in every person he touched along the way. What is known about the death of the Banda MS member
According to information from local media Noroeste, Gerson Leos was participating in a baseball game when he suddenly fainted on the field. Witnesses quoted by El Siglo de Torreón reported that the musician fell in front of his teammates and spectators, which generated an immediate mobilization of emergency services.
Club medical personnel and paramedics attempted to perform resuscitation maneuvers; however, initial reports indicate that he had suffered a fulminant heart attack. At the time of receiving specialized attention, he no longer had vital signs. The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Sinaloa was notified to carry out the corresponding procedures, including the necropsy. The sporting event was part of the Torneo Deportivo de Bandas, where members of various musical groups from Mazatlán participate.
Hours before his death, Gerson shared a story on Instagram where he appeared enjoying a fish dish at a restaurant in Mazatlan, showing no signs of discomfort. So far, no official details about funeral services or possible public tributes have been released.
Within Banda MS, Leos was a keyboardist and was responsible for the acoustic part during the concerts. In addition, he mastered instruments such as piano, guitar and bass, bringing versatility and musical strength to the group.
Before joining Banda MS, Gerson participated in projects with artists such as Espinoza Paz and Falsa Orquesta Cubana, as well as collaborating with various local musicians.
