On August 30, 2025, during one of the performances in Mexico City as part of the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, Shakira surprised the audience by inviting Belinda to sing together the emblematic ballad “Día de enero” at the GNP Seguros Stadium.

The chemistry between the two artists thrilled the audience and became one of the most memorable moments of the evening.

“Día de enero”, included in the album Fijación Oral, Vol. 1 (2005), was written and produced by Shakira and released as a single in Latin America in 2006.

Conceived as a love letter to Antonio de la Rúa, it tells the story of how they met and the difficulties they faced due to the political context in Argentina. The song has been valued for its emotionality, simplicity and endearing lyrics, highlighting cultural references such as the rioplatense voseo and the bandoneon.

During the tour, Shakira surprised her Mexican audience by performing the song for the first time in almost 20 years, generating a powerful reaction of nostalgia and emotion.

Belinda’s dream: Singing with Shakira

Before the show, Belinda had already anticipated in her networks what this moment meant for her, posting on Instagram: “So excited with what I’m about to live. A dream come true for me…”.

When she took the stage, the ovation was immediate. Shakira introduced Belinda with words of admiration:

“This song, which has been requested a lot, I have the pleasure of singing it with someone who is a true example of perseverance, talent and beauty. With you Belinda!

This emotional duet not only ignited the social networks, but also ratified the power of collaboration between women in Latin music.

Belinda responded with a special gesture: she gave flowers and a card to Shakira, thanking her for the invitation in a meaningful way.

For U.S. Hispanic audiences, this moment represents more than a musical encounter: it is a symbol of Latino pride and collective creativity. It reinforces how artists native to our culture continue to connect through music, adapting to new generations without losing authenticity.

It also illustrates how established figures such as Shakira and Belinda can generate alliances that transcend stages and borders, especially inspiring young Latina artists.
